What makes Evita Resort unique?

Xiropigado (pronounced Ksi-ro-pí-ga-do) literally means “dry well” (xiro pigadi). This well was first dug by the Turks during the rule of the Ottoman Empire, but turned up dry, thus its name, given by the Turks.

After Greece gained its independence, Giannis Mountzouris came across the well and attempted to tap into it once more.

This time he was successful, and he went on to build many small manufacturing operations on and around the well – namely olives, cheese and coal. Eventually he built his home there - the first one in the village.

Today, his grandchildren, Giannis & Eleni Mountzouris, run Evita Resort from this historic location.

Aside from our gorgeous grounds, ideal location and friendly hospitality, our property houses the original well from which the village received its name.

Around that famous well, we have built a small family history museum which guests can access. Inside are family photos, antiques and other nostalgic, rare items used by our family over the years, in addition to the well itself, which can safely be viewed.

Entrance is complimentary - enjoy at your leisure!
